Lake Michigan Snow

pressure cooker lake
the ugliest beauty we’ve seen since September
where sick gray twinged with green slips into
a milky mixture beginning to flake
break
at the soft muted darkness of the
light bright black liquid
immense horizon, thick lined smoke
storm strokes
life below its knees, drowning
sheets of ice and flax seed
garnish the poetry of four lanes of snow
bright white lights

(turn)

dulling dimming red diamonds
reverting from their anchorage and
black cloth, bleeding knee
black fabric tickle cloth
