when i say

the mammalian distinctions in you spiral around me
(choking my dignity and playing chicken with luck)
and your sarcasm whispers stuff like bile
and balloons go
behind your throat
and i cant even tell you what i mean

when i say

everyone left you when you were young
so they could come back for more
pumpkin sized dreams that ache like our migraine-heated tile
end of october more like the beginning of april in the old place

and now i feel like just hanging there
i ponder it all and forget to pray
the caterpillars near our tonsils evaporate in the wild on contact
so apparently they’ll go away soon
